The Arizona Diamondbacks beefed up their bases, signing loyal free agent Miguel Castro to a one-year deal for the subsequent season.
Free agent relieved Miguel Castro and the Arizona Diamondbacks comply with a contract, pending materials, in line with Sources familiar with the situation. The contract is a one-year, $3.5 million deal.
How can Miguel Castro assist the Diamondbacks?
Castro, 27, is coming off an injury-plagued season with the New York Yankees, having been sidelined since July with a strained proper shoulder. When wholesome, he was inconsistent, posting a 3.45 ERA in 69 appearances with the Mets in 2021. In 2022, after the Yankees acquired him for Joel Rodriguez, he posted a 4.03 ERA in 34 appearances.
In Arizona, Castro gives much-needed bullseye depth. Sources say the Diamondbacks have been aggressive within the bullpen market, and will add one other comfort even after Castro is signed.
