Police arraigns man for alleged homicide of peacemaker in Ondo

Police in Ondo State on Wednesday arraigned a middle-aged man, Funmilayo Asojo, on the state’s Justice of the Peace Court docket, Akure, for the alleged homicide of a peacemaker, Bamiduro Adewole, within the state.

He was arraigned on a one-count cost of homicide.

The police prosecutor, Augustine Omhenemhen, instructed the court docket that the defendant murdered the deceased with a stone whereas settling a rift over a N700 debt at Ute neighborhood in Ose native authorities space of the state on December 28, 2022.

The offence, in response to the prosecutor, contravened sections 319 and 355 of the Legal Code Regulation, Cap. 37 Vol. II Legal guidelines of Ondo State, 2006.

He urged the court docket to remand the defendant on the Olokuta Correctional Centre pending recommendation from the State Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

In his ruling, the Justice of the Peace, R.O. Yakubu, ordered the defendant to be remanded in jail and adjourned the case until March 19.
